About this project

G. Flöter from Deutsche Stiftung Tinnitus und Hören Charité is responsible for this project
Finally, cozy (pre)Christmas celebrations can take place again - but what about the many elderly people? Many of them prefer to stay at home, withdraw - everything quickly becomes too much for them. Often one reason for this is the increasing hearing loss in old age: Listening and talking becomes more strenuous, the other guests react annoyed .... If tinnitus is also a factor, the small celebration quickly becomes an agonizing event.

Who lives however longer time socially isolated, has a clearly higher dementia risk - according to a long-term study, which appeared in the specialized magazine Neurology. According to this study, lack of contact leads to changes in the brain in the long term and increases the risk of developing dementia by around 26 percent!

The German Foundation for Tinnitus and Hearing Charité works to ensure that tinnitus and hearing loss are detected and treated at an early stage - this includes, above all, regular hearing tests, wearing hearing aids if necessary - and promoting cognitive performance. Affected persons and their caregivers can thus proactively counteract social exclusion and increasing hearing impairment.

Support us in the development and production of information materials, explanatory videos and exercise instructions for affected persons and caregiving relatives. Thank you!
