After 20 years of activism in Germany, Sista Mimi died on December 10, 2014. Until the very end, she kept on fighting for human rights, lastly in the Refugee School in Kreuzberg-Berlin.
As long as she was alive, she refused to leave Germany: "If I go back, things will never change in this country!" But her last wish was to rest in peace in Kenya.
Together we collected 7.000€ for the funeral in only 4 days! A dignified burial for Mimi in Kenya is of great symbolic and political importance.
What matters just as much is continuing Mimi's support for her daughter in Kenya.
Mimi always did as much as she could for her daughter, who is now 16 and wants to start the last grade of secondary education on January 6, 2015. She told us that she is determined to go on to university in 2016. We want to grant her a 5.000€ scholarship, so that she starts the new school year with motivation and then successfully enrols at university.

Bei dem Kind handelt es sich nicht um die leibliche Tochter von Mimi sondern um ihr Patenkind. Mimi hatte sie zu Lebzeiten immer liebevoll als Tochter bezeichnet, wie es in vielen afrikanischen Kulturen üblich ist. Diese Bezeichnung haben wir so übernommen. Zu keinem Zeitpunkt wollten wir Euch täuschen oder hintergehen und weisen sämtliche Vorwürfe, die in diese Richtung weisen, zurück. Die derzeitige Aktion hat das Ziel weiterhin die Schulbildung des Kindes zu sichern. Für das Jahr 2015 haben wir bereits 66.365 KES (ca. 600 €) direkt an die Direktorin der Schule (Igwamiti Secondary School in Nyahururu) überwiesen. Für das Schuljahr 2016 ist das Schulgeld im Januar 2016 fällig und wird schnellst möglich wieder direkt an die Schule überwiesen.
