    About this project

    L. Colson from The crocodile is responsible for this project
"The Crocodile" is the name of a refugee women’s initiative against female genital mutilation (FGM) and for women's right to asylum. The first nationwide networking meeting will be held in Dortmund on June 6, 2015.

During an intensive political workshop on strategies for the battle against FGM, the meeting aims at empowering women who have different experiences in this field. Some of them were forced into exile because of their rejection of traditional female genital mutilation that girls in some communities are subjected to. Approximately 50 women are expected to attend, most from Berlin (around 10) and the Dortmund region (15), but some will also be coming from Hanover (5) and Baden-Württemberg (3).

Bintou Bojang is the main leader of the project. She has been an activist on this topic for the 3 years she has been in Germany. In Gambia, she was also active in a girls group against forced female genital mutilation.

Help Bintou and her supporters pay for travel costs for the activists!

This network is truly unique, because its members will develop their own strategies based on their knowledge of their own communities and of their situation as women in exile.
Support the struggle of these women who know better than anyone else how to put an end to these practices!
