    About this project

    B. Föllmi-Zinnenlauf from Buddhistisches Nonnenkloster Shide e.V. is responsible for this project
In Germany the first Buddhist monastery for nuns in the Tibetan tradition is in the process of being established.
In the idyllic region of the Luneburg Heath on the edge of the village Lünzen in Schneverdingen the first house to accommodate nuns has been constructed. It is ecologically built of wood and clay by Biolehmhaus http://www.biolehmhaus.de
A second house is being planned on the neighboring plot of land, which is 1.200 square meters in area. The heart of the nunnery, a shrine for group prayers, recitations, study and meditation will connect the two plots of land.
Altogether the nunnery hopes to be able to accommodate a resident community of five nuns as well as offering guest rooms for visiting nuns, to enable them to participate in the summer retreats, study courses and other activities of the nunnery.
The first house and the land have been financed largely through own private means. Now the next important step has come: buying the neighboring plot of land. Whoever likes is welcome to donate one square meter of the land for the new nuns´ community. Many thanks.
