The math books will support a school in El Incienso, a poor neighborhood in Guatemala City. The primary school is located right next to the highest bridge in Cental America “Puente del Incienso” in the heart of the capital and was founded 1989.
I visited the school last September and met with students, teachers, and the director of the school.
The teachers Mirna Valle (Director) and Mildred Aguilar are the school representatives for our project. Both teach for over 25 years in the school and are well respected by the families of El Incienso.
Our support is necessary due to the fact that the government does not invest enough in education and the families simply do not have the money to send their children to school.
The 65 math books are for students from grade 1 to 6 of the primary school and will be used by students as listed below:
18 books for 1st grade
10 books for 2nd grade
10 books for 3rd grade
10 books for 4th grade
7 books for 5th grade
10 books for 6th grade
Our local partner running this project with us is the German Pastor Markus Böttcher who represents the Epiphany-Church and lives with his family in Guatemala City.
