About this project
Focusing on the charity's core values, we aim to use rugby as the platform for long-term community development in Africa.
A highly qualified multi-national team of eight volunteer coaches will next January drive from Cheltenham [UK] to Cape Town [SA] over 6 months, making week-long educational visits at 15 schools in ten African countries, also raising funds for our charity.
The objective is to use rugby as the platform for future community development:
- UNITING African youngsters through the sport (focusing on health and social education)
-EMPOWERING local coaches (male and female) and
- ESTABLISHING long-term LINKS with schools in the UK.
Pupils and staff at all African schools will not only receive much needed rugby equipment (balls, bibs, cones, tag belts, ball inflators, whistles and referee jerseys) the team will also be mentoring local coaches and teaching staff, providing educational guides and empowering individuals; leaving a rugby legacy.
With eight fantastic British schools partnering the project, our plan is to support schools in Africa and in the UK to successfully develop and maintain their links in the future.
"This project is well worth supporting and will help to change people’s lives in Africa. We need everyone’s support!" JPR WILLIAMS [Official endorser and former Wales and British Lions Rugby Player]
