About this project

Currently more than 200 girls live at Kajiado Girl's Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, which is funded exclusively by donations. Facing daily challenges, school fees, school uniforms, hygiene items, food and many other necessary things have to be financed. After their escape the girls often have nothing more then the clothes they wear. As there is no such thing like a statutory health insurance in Kenya, the school also has to pay if the girls need medical treatment.
Members of our DFC team regulary visit the centre to review current needs and to hand over donations from Germany. Our last visit took place in October 2016. During a guided tour over the site we were allowed to visit the girls' bedroom. We were deeply shocked. The bedroom is narrow and bare, except of the bunk beds there’s no other furniture. Everything the girls have is stored in tin boxes at the end of the beds. They also don’t have any privacy. Worst of all not every girl in Kajiado has her own bed. At the moment four kids share one! But there's not enough money to buy new mattresses.
We want to change this situation and you can help us! In order to buy a mattress in Kenya, we only need 30 euros. A blanket and bedding cost about 10 euros. For a total of 40 euros we can set a bed for a little girl and allow her a more restful sleep. Having a separate bed also means that the girls get a little privacy and gain space for themselves.
The school has a lack of 80 mattresses. Therefore we need a total of 3,200 euros.
