    About this project

Sevin Ö. from Pass the Crayon e.V. is responsible for this project
Art is at the heart of Pass the Crayon. Creativity is a powerful tool that encourages people to think outside of the box and gives them the chance to discover an ocean of possibilities.

By giving children easy access to art, they can develop and grow in a fun and playful environment. We welcome everyone regardless of origin, gender, age, or belief. Children should be able to learn, grow, and gain self-confidence by finding their own way of expression without the fear of being judged or demeaned.

Three times per week, our team invites artists, teachers, educators, and volunteers, to create workshops for children who have fled their home country and landed in Germany. We exchange our skills with children who will pass them on to their friends, sisters, brothers, parents, and so on. Our goal is to take art out of the context of school in order to allow our children to express themselves more freely. We offer free workshops and intend to branch out with more projects so that every child, teenager, and adult can have access to more artistic outlets. We also feel that integration is something that should not be forced but should come from both sides. The work that is done in this new community is just as essential for the volunteers as it is for the children. We are building bridges in a big city like Berlin, where it can be easy to feel lost.
