    About this project

    M. Schwanitz from BIGENT gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft is responsible for this project
The future workshop promotes the development of a job market for Roma women in Bulgaria. The creation of secure jobs can protect the women from involvement in prostitution and human trafficking. Since its founding two years ago in one of the most critical neighborhoods in the Bulgarian city Plovdiv, women have gone through the vocational training at our social enterprise and have found a permanent positions in large textile companies. Currently, 7 women go through the educational program and many more strive for the opportunity to be part of it. We receive new applications every day, but are not able to keep up with the demand. An expansion of the workshop and the size of our staff is necessary to provide the chance for more women to come. 90 percent of all Roma women do not get an education or vocational training, which led to an umemployment rate of 70%. Our project is the first of its kind in the country that faces and tries to solve this issue!
