About this project

In the year 2000 Youth Football Club (YFC) Rurka Kalan was founded in the district Jalandhar, Punjab,India. Through the lack of opportunities in the region, the association developed into a community-oriented organisation, which offers not only football training, but also opportunities for children and teenagers to make personal developments in their lives. This includes the areas of education, health, youth development, environmental awareness and of course the fun of community sports. As a social project it is free for all chidren and teenagers from the region and is therefore grateful for any kind of support.
Sport is a very good, if not the best instrument to teach important attributes in life such as respect, taking responsibility, trusting others and yourself, ambition and most of all that everyone is equal. When it comes to a footballmatch, it does not matter who is rich or poor - on the pitch everyone is the same. Even if people do not speak the same language, all you need is a ball and two markers to set up a goal.
It can also help to escape the vicious circle of drugs, violence and abusement or just to forget everyday life for some time.
I am Mark, 24 years old and grew up in the near of Frankfurt/Germany. After finishing my studies in Sport Science, it is now the perfect time for me to leave everything behind and do something new, something that will briden my horizon. Not only because I am young and unbound, but also to give the world and its people something back. Knowing that I am living a very privileged life in central Europe, while other people have to deal with poverty and abuse everyday, makes this desire even greater.
I will travel to Rurka Kalan on the 1st of March 2017 to fulfill an unpaid voluntary service at YFC. Non-profit projects in Germany and abroad are partly subsidized (75%) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. For the remaining funds the sending organisation has to take responsibility - in my case "Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit e.V." (DIZ - German-Indian Cooperation - www.diz-ev.de). DIZ is also a non-profit organisation, which is financed only by donations. Every year around 50 volunteers are being sent to India. This not only helps the indian partner organisations, but also offers great opportunities for the volunteers to make new life experiences and develop themselfs personally. To support DIZ and my plan, I kindly ask you for financial support. Your donation is absolutly purpose-bound, it will only be used for the voluntary service of the German-Indian Cooperation.
Many thanks for your help!
Yours,
Mark =)
