The “Buntes Haus” is a family center. It was developed and initiated together with the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin and the district management Hellersdorfer Promenade. In the neighborhood live many young mothers with two or more children, often as single parents. They often live in financially difficult circumstances. This means that almost three-quarters of all kids live with social aid. There are often many difficulties that are connected to this situation: to taking part in social life or perceiving educational tasks.
Many organizations work with short-term actions, such as the distribution of food or gifts. We want to educate the children and visitors of “Buntes Haus” to become responsible people who shape actively society in which they live. Children intuitively know what is important and necessary for a successful adolescence and they know ways to educate theirselve and to live solidarity. These are the properties we want to use in order to make with them the world better.
With various offerings, we come closer to this goal : SpielRaum ( with various gambling and exercise programs ) , coat room, creativity room , discussions , reading club , common cooking, family cafe , family outings, parenting classes (healthy diet, language support ... ). The offers of the colorful house are free of charge.
