This year has seen record numbers of people arriving in the EU in search of safety from war and persecution. For new arrivals, legal support can be life changing. However, there are simply not enough lawyers to meet the urgent demand for legal assistance. In this context, the services that we provide remain critical. 
 
Since January, ELIL has assisted over 3,000 people in Greece and Poland. This giving season, we need your support to renew our commitment to uphold the rule of law, protect human rights and secure legal status for refugees at EU borders. 

Of those we have assisted in Greece, 67.9% have been granted asylum, compared to a national average of 32%, meaning they are granted protection and do not have to return to face war, violence or persecution in their home country.
 
As our organisation is volunteer-based, our operational costs are low: it costs only 25€ to provide an refugee with free, tailored, one on one legal assistance from a practising, experienced lawyer. 
We are extremely grateful for all donations, no matter how small.
