Contemporary dance by and with people with and without disabilities characterizes the profile of tanzbar_bremen. As an established and well-known company in this context, we receive national attention and are experts in the field.

tanzbar_bremen is a mixed team of dancers, choreographers and cultural workers with different skills. Our work focuses on strengthening contemporary dance through inclusion. 
Our aim is to make art and culture accessible to as many people as possible. To this end, we have been realizing projects for over 20 years in which people with and without disabilities work together professionally and on an equal footing. tanzbar_bremen was the first company in Germany to create jobs for an inclusive team. 
With our professional artistic work, we build bridges for contemporary dance in order to appeal to and fascinate a broad audience. In the collaboration of artists with different abilities, we develop our own dance languages.

We create serious and humorous dance productions for the stage or public spaces, which we take on tour regionally and internationally. Regular dance training, workshops, further education and training formats are offered in Bremen.
Every two years, we organize the inclusive dance festival eigenARTig, at which artists with and without disabilities from all over the world perform on Bremen's stages. 

We have been looking for our own wheelchair-accessible spaces for our artistic work for many years. Since 2023, thanks to the support of the Senator for Culture Bremen and the Senator for Social Affairs, we have been able to offer a sustainable environment for inclusive dance art in Bremen. The 520 square meters of space at Plantage 13 in Bremen offer a variety of fields of activity that open up new perspectives for our company on the one hand and strengthen the entire inclusive dance scene in the region on the other. The aim is to secure this space for our work and to revitalize it together with the scene. 
 
In addition to barrier-free spaces, working in an inclusive team requires additional working hours and individual mediation services.
With your donation, you are helping us to make our work sustainable and transform the rooms in the Plantage into an inclusive meeting place for the whole city. Your support is very welcome as we are planning a major renovation to make the space accessible.
