Protect the Huni Kuin/UNCONTACTED indigenous people in the Brazilian Amazon

Due to current events, we are now calling on all people to donate money to buy land in the Brazilian rainforest for the preservation of the indigenous peoples, animals, flora and fauna living there.

Why now?

Due to the political situation in Brazil, the rainforest and the indigenous peoples are massively threatened. We are all called upon to protect the last large living forest and also the last retreat for untouched cultures. Since September 2018, deforestation has already increased by 84%. So we have no more time to loose. It is time to act.

What does that mean in concrete terms?

We want to make it possible for the friendly indigenous people of the Huni Kuin to buy a piece of land in Acre, Brazil, in the community of Jordao. For over 6 years we have had personal contact with the Huni Kuin tribe.
The approx. 14,000 ha large piece of land is currently owned by a Brazilian farmer and is for sale. The entire land is to be sold for 2 million Brazilian real; it is possible to buy half of the land for 1 million real, which corresponds to approximately 250,000 euros depending on the exchange rate. Since a larger area of the territory has been cleared for livestock, we need at least another 50.000€ for the consultation of lawyers, the registration and taxes of the land purchase as well as for reforestation.
The piece of land neighbours to another piece of land that is already privately owned by Huni Kuin on the Tarauacá River (bought about 20 years ago by the chief of Huni Kuin with prize money for a film). On the other side it borders on land where UNCONTACTED indigenous people live. The purchase would thus benefit both peoples. In order to purchase all the land (14,000 hectares) and reforest the deforested part, we have to collect an estimated 565,0000 euros. With 300.000 Euro half of the land can be bought and reforested.
Basically, land is to be bought in the Amazon region in order to bring it into the private possession of the indigenous people themselves and thus protect it from exploitation and offer the indigenous people a permanent habitat. What the reserves have achieved so far is no longer safe in the future. The reserves are in state ownership and are now endangered.

The donated money will be used to secure land for indigenous cultures while protecting the forest and all its inhabitants.
