About this project

Lena Hartmann from ZWEITZEUGEN e.V. is responsible for this project
Every contemporary witness has an own story to tell that is based upon individual experiences. We recorded 37 interviews with contemporary witnesses so far and worked them up. We do not solely focus on the experiences during the period of the Holocaust but explore the times before and after it.

Our goal is to produce a print version of all 37 life stories and those that will follow to save them from being forgotten and to be able to carry them on.

The magazines give certainty to the contemporary witnesses that their story will live on and that we take on a part of the responsibility for sharing it in the future.

In the form of a magazine, interested people can take a life story home, read it unhurriedly and let it sink in.

Katharina Müller-Spirawski, executive chairwoman, declares: „I repeatedly felt that it calms the contemporary witnesses to see the outcome of our work.“

A magazine presents a whole interview. Added are e.g. a foreword and explaining comments. Every magazine has a unique design. Pictures and citations exemplify the stories. The magazines can be ordered from our website. We also sell them at exhibitions and other events.

The amount of donations per magazine includes the costs for the work up of texts, for the design and the printing of 1000 copies plus 10% for the accompanying of volunteers and administrative expenses.
