About this project

Amira Jehia from Drip by Drip e.V. is responsible for this project
What’s the problem: The textile industry has an enormous water footprint. To date, the sector has failed to manage water sustainably, instead it is regarded an unlimited free resource. Textile manufacturing processes employ a high use of chemicals for cleaning and dyeing, leading to effluents containing hazardous pollutants. These effluents are discharged into rivers without proper treatment causing severe water pollution. These are claimed to be responsible for about 2/3 of water-borne diseases in Bangladesh.

Who we are: Drip by Drip is the world’s first NGO committed to tackling the water issues in the fashion and textile industry. Find out more: https://www.dripbydrip.org

Our main activities:
  • Inform: We educate about the link between fashion and the decline of clean water resources.
  • Create: We develop fabrics under the utmost saving of water under the umbrella of THE BLUE LAB.
  • Repay: We pay reparations to areas negatively affected by the textile industry’s wastewater, through local partner NGOs, that are used to fund filter systems for the local population.
Our mission: To clean up the wastewater of the textile industry and to save the remaining natural water resources for the people living in the affected areas.

Where: Biosand filters will be implemented in Dhaka or one of the surrounding villages.

What are the funds for? With 1,500 € we can set up 1 biosand filter benefitting at least 90 households.
