Developing perspectives: Equitable Opportunities for Children in Bhutan

For many years, we have been supporting children and young people in particular with our projects, in Bhutan, Tibet and in Germany. This year's Christmas campaign is also dedicated to this cause: With the help of various projects that we have developed together with our partners in Bhutan, we want to improve equal opportunities for children and young people. 

School starter kits for students: This year we would again like to give away school starter kits for the start of school in February. This will make it possible for many children to attend school! The sets contain a school bag with school materials and school clothes. A starter set costs 100 €. 

A school library for Rinchen Kuenphen Primary School: We would like to equip the library of one of our partner elementary school with books. Afterwards we will initiate an exchange project of two reading clubs in Bhutan and Germany. The cost of equipping the library is €2,000.

Clean energy for learning: Nomads and women farmers will receive solar panels and lamps to help them protect their fields and livestock from animals at night. Children can learn in the dark evening hours with the help of solar-powered lamps and digital devices. A solar panel with lamps costs between €50 and €150, depending on size. 

Dairy cows for self-sufficiency: The successful yak program for single parents in Tibet is finding a revival in our rural project areas in Bhutan. There, smallholder women are given a milk cow and can supply themselves and their children with dairy products. A milk cow costs 300 €. 

Clean drinking water for children and young people: Clean drinking water is an important basic requirement for a healthy life. In Bhutan this year, we have set up systems for 8,000 children at schools that treat groundwater and rainwater to produce drinking water. A change with a powerful impact: the children are healthier, learn better and no longer have to buy water in plastic bottles. 
We want more of this! For more schools, we plan to invest between 1,000 and 8,000 euros in the construction of drinking water systems, depending on their size.

As in previous years, the Aurora Borealis Foundation is making it possible for us to double donations at Christmas - thank you very much!

From your donation of 100 € for a school starter kit, Aurora Borealis will make 200 € for two school children.
From 50 € for one solar panel Aurora Bolearis makes two panels for 100 €.
And so on!
