The original idea of OpenEcoLabs has so far been driven by the German-speaking Open Source Ecology movement, and now a diverse network is emerging in the form of locations on an initial map.
It is therefore important to understand OpenEcoLabs as open model locations and networks in order to bring together existing ideas and locations. Together, we can draw a pluralistic vision of such future-oriented model locations and make knowledge freely available.

A decentralized network, a common exchange platform and unconditionally freely shared project results are the beginning. Our progress can be viewed regularly on openecolab.de and new locations can be submitted.

Questions that we want to answer together with you through events, prototyping and discussions with stakeholders:
- 1. how do we create replicable model places in which we can test on a small scale in a variety of ways what makes society sustainable on a global level?
- 2. what common goals can we formulate and who are the players in the OpenEcoLabs?
- 3. what are the next site-specific steps?
- 4. how can the network be built up and support each other?
- 5. what are the requirements for an exchange platform in order to communicate concepts that can be copied?
Use of funds:
The association OSE Germany e.V. (ose-germany.de) is the sponsor behind this project and aims to promote research and education. The focus is on sustainable technical progress, open source methods and the free exchange of knowledge within the network. We prioritize the use of donations as follows:

Additional expenses for administration, coordination and processing fees for the project are taken into account (volunteer allowances, additional project applications, cooperations, IT development).
