Freedom of Speech in an Unfree Society

The Echo Freunde Association was established to preserve and protect freedom of speech by supporting journalists who have remained true to their profession despite pressure and threats from the authorities.

Today, independent media in Russia has been virtually destroyed. The adoption of harsh repressive laws and pervasive propaganda seeks to turn the country’s information space into a zone where there is no place for the truth. Yet, despite all the obstacles, our journalists continue their work, finding ways to deliver objective information to Russian citizens.

This work requires not only courage but also significant resources. The journalists we support create independent content, launch radio broadcasts, and provide a platform for those voices that the regime tries to silence. Thanks to modern technology, they find ways to reach people in Russia, helping to expose lies and reveal the true state of affairs.
